All the way from Japan

With 17 different nationalities present, Salla FIN5 is a true international competition. Each day we try to interview one of our foreign guests.

Today we met Tadashi Ebisawa, H75. He travelled all the way from Japan for four weeks of orienteering in Europe! He visited the Kainuu orienteering week first, and is now at FIN5 in Salla before he continues to Sweden for more orienteering.

Just after crossing the finnish line, he gave us his first impressions: ‘The terrain in Salla is very beautiful’, he said, ‘and flat. Japan has a lot of steep climbs.’

But that does not make the orienteering here easy, he explains. ‘Japan also has a lot of paths. Here there were very few paths, making the orienteering very difficult. Very beautiful and difficult.’

We wish Tadashi and all other competitors a beautiful week in Salla!
