Salla is located north of the Arctic Circle, in the middle of the vast wilderness of Eastern Lapland. Although Salla markets itself with the slogan Salla -in the middle of nowhere, you can get to the race centre by public transport! From an orienteer’s point of view, Salla combines challenging terrain, beautiful nature and a peaceful wilderness atmosphere, making it a unique orienteering destination in Finland!

Salla offers a variety of wilderness orienteering terrain, ranging from rocky slopes to small ridges, vast marshlands and fells. The Salla National Park, established in 2022, is known for its old-growth forests, ridges and gorges, and is located right next to the Sallatunturi and Competition Centre.
